The origins of the pub date back to the 15th century when Twyn Square was the town's bustling market place. Known as the 'Pen Cefyl' (Welsh for Horses Head), it was later a coaching inn providing food and accommodation for travellers, as well as a place for local people to enjoy a jug of ale. Although the Nags Head no longer offers overnight accommodation, its purpose has not really changed that much over the centuries.

In the 1960s the pub was bought by the Key Family and has been under their ownership and management for 52 years. Now in their third generation at the Nags Head, you will always be greeted by a member of the Key family on arrival. Under the care of the Keys, the Nags Head has gained a reputation as a pub and restaurant offering a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, great service and excellent food and drink to match.

The Nags Head is an attractive place to visit at any time of the year, but especially so in summer when the exterior is a blaze of colour with stunning hanging baskets. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a bit of 'cafe culture' with a pint, glass of wine or a coffee outside the pub and watch the world go by on Twyn Square.
